QUICK ANSWER

Choose the wetted construction and suction arrangement together.

Review ZBF where the actual reinforced-polypropylene construction is compatible with the liquid; review ZCQ where a confirmed stainless-steel wetted configuration matches the duty. Neither material is universally resistant, and neither series name proves that the required suction lift will work. Compare the exact chemical, concentration, temperature, flow, total head, viscosity and inlet arrangement before selecting. Both are magnetic-drive self-priming pump families, but self-priming does not mean permission to start without the required initial fill or to run dry.

What is confirmed about ZBF and ZCQ?

Shanghai Shangcheng Pump & Valve Manufacturing Co., Ltd. identifies the ZBF plastic self-priming magnetic pump as an external-mixing self-priming configuration with reinforced polypropylene wetted construction. The ZCQ self-priming magnetic drive pump combines a centrifugal self-priming arrangement and magnetic coupling, with stainless-steel wetted construction options requiring confirmation.

This comparison establishes no material grade, maximum temperature, pressure ranking or performance advantage. Use the documentation for the exact quoted model rather than borrowing limits from the other series.

Why the chemical name alone cannot select the material

Supply the full chemical identity, concentration, operating temperature and cleaning fluids. Include any mixed chemicals, dissolved salts or process changes that matter to compatibility. A statement such as acid transfer is not a complete specification.

For ZBF, ask which wetted parts use reinforced polypropylene and what materials are used for the remaining components. For ZCQ, request the proposed stainless grade and the complete wetted-parts list. Review bearings, shaft components, seals and gaskets where they contact the liquid. Approval of a pump-body material alone does not approve the entire pump.

Temperature, specific gravity, viscosity, suspended particles and crystallization tendency should be included in the same review. Do not assume either family tolerates intentional solids, and do not treat stainless steel or engineering plastic as a guarantee against corrosion. Where evidence is incomplete, obtain a configuration-specific compatibility confirmation before ordering.

Describe the suction installation, not just a lift number

Measure the relevant source-level range relative to the pump and provide the suction pipe diameter, total length, vertical changes, fittings, valves and any strainer. Identify where air could enter and whether the suction path remains airtight through the operating cycle. A pump beside a tank and one connected through a long elevated pipe have different inlet duties even at the same nominal lift.

State the required start frequency and whether the source can empty or supply liquid intermittently. Review the actual liquid at operating temperature, not only a water-based reference condition. Do not convert a catalog priming figure into a promise for a different pipe arrangement, viscosity or medium.

Use the suction lift and priming-time guide to organize the installation information. The acceptable suction arrangement and startup procedure must be confirmed for the selected ZBF or ZCQ unit.

Self-priming does not remove filling or dry-running precautions

The published ZBF guidance requires initial casing fill and sufficient retained liquid for the next priming cycle. ZCQ guidance likewise requires casing fill before initial startup and prohibits dry operation. Follow the exact instructions for the supplied configuration rather than assuming the two arrangements have identical filling details.

Before starting, confirm the liquid path is prepared, valve positions are correct and the source can supply liquid. If priming fails or liquid supply is interrupted, follow the approved stop-and-inspect procedure; do not repeatedly restart without finding the cause. Magnetic drive removes a conventional rotating shaft seal arrangement, but it does not make every leak impossible or eliminate the need for liquid-dependent internal operating conditions.

The ZCQ priming-check guide explains installation checks. It is not permission to apply an unconfirmed operating limit to ZBF.

Compare flow and total head at the same operating point

Give minimum, normal and maximum required flow and the corresponding total dynamic head. State the discharge destination, elevation difference and piping or equipment losses. Compare the actual model curves at the intended speed and liquid properties, not one series' maximum flow against another series' maximum head.

Viscosity and specific gravity belong in the hydraulic and motor review. Ask whether the proposed operating point, motor supply, material configuration and suction installation have been assessed together. Choosing only by connection diameter or motor power leaves important selection questions unresolved.

For procurement, document operating hours, continuous or intermittent service, control requirements and maintenance access. Request the model identification and any configuration qualifications in the quotation. A general family description is not a final duty approval.

RFQ checklist for a comparable ZBF/ZCQ quotation

  • Chemical name, composition, concentration and cleaning liquid.
  • Normal and maximum temperature; specific gravity and viscosity at the actual duty.
  • Solids, particles, gas release and crystallization concerns.
  • Minimum, normal and maximum required flow and total dynamic head.
  • Source levels or pressure, suction lift, pipe diameter, length, fittings and valves.
  • Startup frequency, retained-liquid conditions and possible supply interruption.
  • Requested wetted materials and documented compatibility requirements.
  • Power supply, connections, controls, operating hours and installation constraints.
  • Quantity, destination and required technical documentation.

Ask the supplier to identify the proposed model, wetted construction, operating-point basis and startup instructions. Any unconfirmed material or suction condition should remain an explicit clarification item rather than becoming an assumed capability.

Buyer questions

Is ZBF always more corrosion resistant than ZCQ?

No. Compatibility depends on the chemical, concentration, temperature and complete wetted construction. A polymer-versus-metal label cannot establish universal suitability.

Does ZCQ mean any stainless-steel grade is acceptable?

No. Confirm the actual grade and all other wetted materials for the proposed configuration.

Can either pump start with an empty casing?

Do not assume so. The published guidance requires initial filling; follow the specific supplied instructions and avoid dry running.

Can the same suction-lift requirement be used for both series?

You can submit the same site duty for comparison, but each exact model must be reviewed against the liquid and complete piping arrangement.

Send the chemical and suction layout together.

Review the magnetic pump product range, then submit the actual RFQ information to shscpv@gmail.com for configuration review.
